The Ebony Pearls Youth Leadership Academy

For more than 65 years, The Ebony Pearls Youth Leadership Academy has provided young women between the ages of sixteen and nineteen with an extraordinary opportunity to develop leadership skills under the guidance of the women of Epsilon Xi Omega, the San Diego Graduate Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® Today, under the leadership of The Ebony Pearls Foundation of San Diego Inc.®, selected young women with high moral and spiritual values, who have demonstrated academic competency will: 

  •  Cultivate high scholastic and ethical standards

  • Enhance leadership skills, and commitment to community service

  • Enhance appreciation and knowledge of African American culture and history, particularly the contributions of African American women

  • Develop life skills including communication skills, financial management and public speaking

  • Enhance social skills, self-respect, and teamwork.

  • Promote unity and friendship among high school youth, and

  • Promote college attainment through workshops in which students are exposed to a myriad of careers and assigned professional mentors
